Meet Dr. Shauntell Solomon - Dermatologist
Dr. Solomon attended the University of Miami as an undergraduate student majoring in Microbiology and Psychology with a minor in Chemistry. She then went on to earn her Medical Doctorate degree at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After medical school she completed both a Family Medicine and Dermatology residency program and currently practices as a board certified dermatologist. Dr. Solomon uses her training in Family Medicine to evaluate patients for underlying medical conditions that may be attributing to their skin disease. In 2009, after the completion of her Family Medicine residency, Dr. Solomon worked with one of the leading experts in Melanoma detection, Dr. Harold Rabinovitz. This fellowship focused on assessing individuals for pigmented lesions using dermoscopy and confocal microscopy which are tools that have been shown to help increase the accuracy of diagnosing both melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancers. Dr. Solomon continues to use dermoscopy, a noninvasive hand held microscope, during routine skin cancer screenings on all of her patients.
During her dermatology residency Dr. Solomon also had extensive exposure to the diagnosis and treatment of blistering diseases of the skin along with diseases of the hair and nails. Dr. Solomon’s desire to be proficient in Mohs Micrographic Surgery led to her completion of an additional one year fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery with Dr. Daniel Rivlin. Through this fellowship she was able to learn a meticulous method for the removal of nonmelanoma skin cancers; additionally, this method allows the practitioner to remove the cancer in its entirety while sparing healthy skin and providing an appealing cosmetic outcome. Once she completed her Mohs Micrographic Surgery Fellowship, Dr. Solomon began working in private practice in South Florida and has now brought her expertise to the West Coast Florida to continue top-notch care with Holcomb-Kreithen.
